The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will review safety at United Airlines after a series of incidents this month. United Airlines informed its employees that the FAA would be reviewing the airline’s work processes, manuals, and facilities to ensure safety compliance. One incident involved a United Boeing 737-800 landing in Medford, Oregon, missing an external panel. Other recent mishaps on United flights also involved Boeing jets, including engine flames, runway slides, and hydraulic fluid leaks. The FAA stated that it routinely monitors airlines’ compliance with regulations and safety management. Boeing has also faced scrutiny for incidents involving its planes. United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby is considering purchasing planes from Airbus.
